Vehicle Buyers

What is PDI?

PDI means pre-delivery inspection. It is the dealership check completed before handover to confirm the vehicle is prepared for customer delivery.

What PDI usually covers

  • Mechanical and safety checks.
  • Fluid and battery checks.
  • Software updates or campaign review.
  • Basic fit-and-finish confirmation.

PDI is important, but PDI alone does not guarantee full delivery readiness. Registration, insurance, financing completion, accessories, and customer documents also need to be complete.

What buyers should still check

  • Bill of sale and contract details match what was agreed.
  • Proof of insurance and registration status are confirmed.
  • All promised accessories and due-bill items are documented.
  • You receive a practical handover walkthrough.

Requirements vary by province. Confirm details with your dealership and provincial authority.
